Proverbs 31:26 (AMPC)
She opens her mouth in skillful and godly Wisdom, and
on her tongue is the law of kindness [giving counsel and
Proverbs 31 is widely used to make reference to the kind of
woman the Lord desires every lady to be. Our lead verse
today, though referring to this woman, has a great lesson
that cuts across both the ladies and men.
James 03:05 (NKJV) referring to the tongue “Even so the
tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how
great a forest a little fire kindles!” goes to show just how
much damage this small part of the body can cause. No
wonder the writer of this proverb would urge us to only open
our mouths with skillful and Godly wisdom. We should only
speak when we have something worthwhile to say and our
words are sensible. Grace ought to be ministered to each of
Beloved, kindness ought to rule our mouths. Whatever we
are saying, even an instruction to our juniors, subordinates,
employees, including our house technicians, ought to be
governed with kindness. Proverbs 31:26b (NLT) renders “…
she gives instructions with kindness.”
It is possible to tame our tongues regardless of the situation.
What comes out of our mouths should agree with what we
believe in and our new nature in Christ. Open your mouth
with wisdom today and every day. Let the law of kindness
